Close up of image 'lnwrbns_str1865' showing the passenger footbridge showing the departure indicator board suspended over head and in between the steps to Platform One. Richard Foster states that the indicator board was divided into two sections with the left hand side showing the platforms for trains leaving from the East end of the platforms and on the right, trains leaving from the West end of the platforms. The left hand section records in descending order; Platform 1 for London and the South; Platform 1 for Leamington; Platform 5 for Sutton Coldfield (and intermediate stations); Platform 5 for Walsall and South Staffordshire; Platform 1 for Burton and Derby; Platform 4 for Moseley and Redditch and finally, Platform 1 for Bristol and Gloucester. The right hand section records in descending order; Platform 3 for the North; Platform 1 for Wolverhampton and Stour Valley Station; Platform 1 for Dudley and Dudley Port; Platform 1 for Harborne; Platform 1 for Stourbridge and Kidderminster whilst the remaining two sections are blank. The need for the indicator boards and clocks found on the platform is clearly evident from the above list as it must have been very confusing to passengers with so many routes served by the same platform number.
