Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1869
Looking down the newly built Station Street towards the
front of the Market Hall with the entrance to the cart road leading to the fish
and milk sidings on the left. Station Street was built as a direct result of
the building of the station's extension as many buildings were required to be
demolished. The reason for the gaps to the right of the pavement was according
to Richard Foster 'where buildings, which did not fit in with the layout of the
street, have been demolished, but new ones have not yet been built'. The
passenger footbridge covered by the raised glazed roof descended by steps down
to Station Street, its entrance being opposite the horse drawn carriages seen
on the right.
