Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1877

View looking West up Queens Drive towards Hill Street with the Midland portion on the left and the LNWR portion on the right

View looking West up Queens Drive towards Hill Street with the Midland portion on the left and the LNWR portion on the right. The canopy above this section of Queens Drive was the only section to remain after the damage suffered to the former LNWR portion of New Street station during the Second World War. The cars and taxis in this view are all built by West Midlands car manufacturers with the cars on the left being built by Morris Motors and Standard Cars whilst the taxis were built by Carbodies of Coventry. The columns that once formed part of the gated entrance at the junction with Hill Street are still visible in this view thought to have been taken in circa 1960.
