View of the new clock provided above the passenger entrance
to New Street station from the Queen's Hotel in Stephenson Place. Many of
Birmingham's citizens believed the legend that the railway authorities
had set the clock a few minutes fast to encourage passengers to move quickly to
their relevant platforms.
