An illustrated view of the inside of the 'Great Central Station' looking along Platform 1 from the Stour Valley bay end with a train standing on the central road of the bay. In order to provide extra space for passengers using Platform 1 the bay was narrowed by extending the width of the platform in to the area currently occupied by the first track on the left. This resulted in the track being used to stable the train seen in the bay becoming the road used by the bay platform.
