Looking towards the Queen's Hotel on the right from the West
end of Stephenson Street showing the new 1917 built main frontage. The new
frontage replaced the original 1854 West wing and included a new West wing
built on the site used by the stone masons yard. The original centre section of
the hotel can be seen to the left of the left hand tower. The new frontage
contained a new hotel entrance complete with a canopy and carrying the shorter
title of Queen's whilst the 1854 centre section still retained the full
legend of Queen's and North Western Hotel. A LNWR horse-drawn parcels
delivery van can be seen standing in front of the hotel with a LNWR motor
parcels delivery van standing just behind it. The original railings that once
stood in front of the hotel are now removed and the hotel's access road is now
incorporated in to Stephenson Street. C1924
