BR Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 No 73019 pauses between duties
whilst working on an Civil Engineers trip at Birmingham New Street Station in
demolition on 26th May 1964. The locomotive is standing at Platform 9, the old
bidirectional Platform 5, with the footbridge being above and behind. The
building being demolished on the left incorporated the Station Street entrance
with the fish sidings being located on the other side at Platform 11. Built by
Derby works in October 1951, No 73019 remained in service until January 1967
when it was withdrawn from 9K Bolton shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of
Newport.
