Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1922

A 1936 view of New Street's station announcer and his public address equipment which located in a small office off Platform One. The was the first time such a service had been provided in the Birmingham area and was fully functioning by the end of November 1935. Richard Foster notes in the third volume of his four-part station history that generally there were no announcements made during the night in deference to the guests staying at the Queen's Hotel.
