Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str2937
Looking Eastwards along Queens Drive towards the entrance to
the portions of the station in 1952. Formerly Great Queen Street prior to the
erection of the Midland portion of the station in the early 1880s, the station
approach via Queens Drive provided a third entrance to the station. Whereas the
Queens Drive entrance being in the centre serviced both the LNWR and Midland
Railway the other two were more focused on one railway. The Stephenson Place
via the hotel entrance being best for the LNWR whilst the other being off
Station Street best served the Midland Railway. The pedestrian footbridge which
crossed both portions did however allow access to all parts of the station.
