The single tram line and the three cars travelling from right to left are exiting John Bright Street at what was a potentially dangerous junction. The gated entrance to Queens Drive protects both the pedestrian and road access whilst in the centre is a newspaper stand. The alignment of Queens Drive with the curved roof of the Midland extension required an infill section of roof to be provided and on top of this roof can be seen several chimneys from the buildings that were located on Platform 7.
