Close up of image "lnwrbns_str417" showing Platform 4 and a variety of platform trollies used for carrying parcels, luggage and on the extreme left, for carriage oil lamps. The oil lamp trolley was constructed with slats within which the lamps sat resting on the steel ring that held the lamp when dropped in to the pots in the carriage roof. This protected the glass bowl which formed the bottom half of the oil lamp. The LNWR owned the first and third poster boards on the left with the Midland Railway owning the second. The stations signs indicate the rooms are from left to right, Gentlemen's Lavatory, General Waiting Room, Gentlemen's First Class Waiting Room and Refreshment Room. Modeller's might wish to note that the Platform No 5 sign has the lettering Platform around the top of the oval sign.
