LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Lichfield

Close up of image 'lnwrbs1506' showing the configuration of the station with passengers accessing the down platform from the up platform. The access to the Birmingham platform, the nearest, was via a tunnel that passed under the running lines and then via stairs up to the platform and waiting rooms. The platforms were slightly staggered with the Lichfield platform (with the white edging) being further to the right in this photograph. It is thought that the roof of the building seen just above the Lichfield platform was part of the station, possibly the station masters house, as is evident by the chimneys being of a similar style to those on the platform buildings. Note what appears to be a goods shed in the far distance on the left.
