LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

Looking north towards Tile Hill station with Fletchamstead bridge seen in the distance in 1964. The station's facilities were very utilitarian reflecting it was opened at the end of the first year of World War Two when materials were at a premium. The booking office is on the left and the two waiting room are located halfway down the platform. As can be seen, oil lighting was to remain in place until the electrification of the line. On the right is the Standard Triumph Motor Works. The overhead gantries are being erected to carry the overhead power lines.
