LMS Route: Coventry Loop Line

Ex-LNWR 7F 0-8-0 G2a class No 49164 is seen travelling on the down line and about to cross over on the loop line to Three Spires junction. The two white signs on the rear of the tender were warnings to the crew about the danger of overhead electric lines indicating that the locomotive was operating in areas where the overhead catenary was in place. Built at Crewe as LNWR No 2034 in April 1910 No 49164 remained in service until October 1961 when it was withdrawn from Springs Branch shed in Wigan to be scrapped in February 1962 by the Central Wagon Company of Ince near Wigan.
