The electrification of the West Coast which included the Birmingham to Rugby line saw the removal of the junction. The loop line eventually became a long siding from Three Spires junction terminating at Gosford Green goods yard. Whilst many goods yards closed in the 1960s Gosford Green was kept open to serve the Rootes Motor Group who were later taken over by the Chrysler Corporation. Hillman Imp car bodies were manufactured in Coventry and transported to Linwood near Paisley in Scotland.
