British Railways built Ivatt 2-6-2T No 41285 is seen shunting rolling stock in the new parcels depot approach which lay behind the up platform. Built at Crewe works in November 1950 this was a LMS design continued by British Railways until the British Railway Standard class engines were designed and this locomotive remained in service until December 1966 when it was withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in April 1967 by the Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Company at Inshaw Works.
