Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48612 is seen heading towards Nuneaton on a mixed goods train running past the nearly complete platform three. As can be seen platform one is now complete and extends some distance this side of Warwick Road bridge. Later realignment of the track took advantage of the shorter trains running in the post-steam era and all platforms had their lengths reduced. Built as LMS 8612 by Ashworth works on the Southern Railway in July 1943 it remained in service until June 1968 when it was withdrawn from Newton Heath shed near Manchester and scrapped in November 1968 by Drapers Ltd of Hull.
