Coventry Station - BR Locomotives: lnwrcov231

Ex-LMS 2-6-0 'Hughes Crab' No 42783 is seen at the head of an up freight service as it passes by platform one during the station's reconstruction. Immediately behind the tender can be seen a brake van and two 'Mink' vans both originally of GWR origin ,whilst the steel sided mineral wagons appear to be British Railways built. Built as LMS No 2783 at Crewe works in September 1927 it remained in service until August 1965 when it was withdrawn from Birkenhead shed to be scrapped during March 1966 by Bird's of Long Marston near Stratford upon Avon.
