Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 5742 'Connaught' is seen arriving at platform one in Coventry with an up express service in July 1948, just a few months after nationalisation. Built at Crewe works to Lot 340 in December 1936 No 5742 remained in service until May 1965 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped during August 1965 by the Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Company at Inshaw works.
