Coventry Station - BR Locomotives: lnwrcov247

Ex-GWR 2-8-0 Class 28xx No 3832 is seen piloting an unidentified ex-LMS 2-8-0 8F as it passes through Coventry station's new platform four circa 1963-4. Its passage off the Leamington branch puts paid to another myth, that the LNWR deliberately kept the Coventry to Kenilworth section of the branch singled in order to prevent GWR locos with their wider loading gauge from entering Coventry. Built at Swindon works to Lot 334 in January 1941 No 3832 remained in service until May 1964 when it was withdrawn from Court Sart shed in Neath to be scrapped during August 1964 by Birds of Morriston.
