Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45723 'Fearless' and ex-LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 42586 stand smokebox to smokebox with each other at Coventry shed. Built as LMS No 5723 by Crewe works in August 1936 No 45723 remained in service until one week after being officially transferred from 2A Rugby week ending 15th August 1964 it was withdrawn from 5E Nuneaton shed to be scrapped. The Stanier 2-6-4T was built as LMS No 2586 by the North British Locomotive Company in October 1936 and was to remain in service until June 1964 when it was withdrawn from 8H Mollington Street shed in Birkenhead.
