An exterior view of a Michelin 56-seater Rail-car passing itself off as a Coventry Rail Car

An exterior view of a Michelin 56-seater Rail-car passing itself off as a Coventry Rail Car. The photograph appears to have been taken at a station in France, the low platforms and signals being a strong clue. The photograph clearly benefits from the photographers dark room skills, particularly around the driver's elevated cabin and the addition of the 'Coventry Railcar' logo seen on the side of the vehicle. Its too large, in the wrong place and 'square-on' to the reader. In fact this is thought to be the earlier Type 22 model with design characteristics different to those seen on the 'Coventry Rail Cars, (in images 'lnwrk161', 'lnwrns1732', 'lnwrlave1349', and 'lnwrlave1362'). The driver's conning tower appears to be too high and central compared to the Coventry Railcars, although photographs of the Type 22 seen in Cambridge do show a central conning tower but the Cambridge model has air scoops on either side. Note too the passenger door is at the far end of the cabin, not central as seen in both the Coventry and Cambridge models. Another difference between the model seen above and the Coventry and Cambridge railcars is the luggage door by the conning tower, its a solid half-glazed unit and not a roll shutter design.
