Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5XP 'Jubilee Class' No 45742 'Connaught' is seen arriving at the up platform with one of the Birmingham to London two-hour expresses. The locomotive is heading the nine-coach train, which includes a dining car on 5th October 1957. Built by Crewe works in December 1936 as LMS No 5742, the locomotive was renumbered by British Railways in November 1948 which it carried until May 1965 when it was withdrawn from 12A Carlisle Kingmoor shed
