Looking towards Birmingham along the up platform concourse
with Warwick Road bridge and Coventry No 3 Signal Cabin just visible in the
distance through the arch of the Warwick Road bridge. Passengers preferring to
wait on the concourse instead of using the waiting rooms had no alternative
other than to improvise when it came to seating as the platform seats were set
so far back, out of the sunlight, that they were seldom used - as demonstrated
by a Dad and his son sitting on a luggage trolley. The entrance
concourse/booking hall was off to the right, with two pairs of folding metal
gates between the concourse and the platform. Unless traffic was very heavy,
only the easternmost entrance was used, and that seen here with gates closed
was seldom utilised, that they were seldom used. The departure fingerboard had
two clocks, one used for main line trains and one for the Leamington branch,
hence the different angles at which the clocks were set.
