Another view of Coventry station's up platform with the remains of the 1850s passenger footbridge on the left and its 1901-4 replacement on the right

Coventry station's up platform with the remains of the 1850s passenger footbridge on the left and its 1901-4 replacement on the right as seen on 11th November 1954. The steel lattice work was retained the lower quadrant signal from it. The evolution of the station on the up side meant that the 1860 structure was modified rather than completely replaced. The 1850s footbridge remained until 1901 when it was demolished to allow the expansion of the parcel depot. The 1901 two-storey buildings seen from Eaton Road being built on to the front of the 1880 extension. The chimneys seen behind the latticework over the top of the up platform awning are evident in the photograph of the 1880 station.
