Close up of image 'lnwrcov620' shows the Birmingham end of the up platform and the base of the passenger foot bridge for the down platform. Careful examination of the platform at the base of the footbridge shows that the up platform continues for a short distance the other side of the footbridge with the platform under the footbridge sloping down to track level to accommodate access to the barrow crossing which crosses to the down platform. Beyond the up platform there appears to be a platform at a higher level which was used for parcels and goods travelling by express train. The bridge structure was later demolished although the iron latticework at the base of the bridge together with part of its tower base remained until the station was rebuilt in the 1960s.
