Ex-LMS Fowler 2-6-2T No 40002 is seen on shed in company
with another LMS design and in the background a LNWR goods engine. Its seen
carrying the legend 'British Railways' on its tank sides British Railways first
attempt at a corporate identity. British Railways' first corporate logo was the
'Ferret and Dartboard' or 'Unicycling Lion'. Built as LMS No 2 at Derby works
to Lot 55 in 1930, No 40002 remained in service until November 1959 when it was
withdrawn from service from Wolverton Carriage works where it had been in
service as the works shunter. It was in store at nearby Bletchley shed for some
time being finally removed in April 1961 to Crewe works to be scrapped in June
1961.
