Coventry Shed: lnwrcov671

Ex-LMS 4-4-0 2P No 40657 is seen to the rear of an unidentified class mate on road 4 inside Coventry's new shed. Built as LMS No 657 by Crewe Works in October 1931 it remained in service until it was officially recorded as being withdrawn from Watford shed in October 1962 yet contemporary notes show it was 'dumped' at Rugby Works from December 1959. As stated previously Coventry being a sub-shed of Rugby might well fall in to the description of 'Rugby' or it might indicate that Coventry was a staging point prior to being moved to Rugby. Whatever the circumstances of its final years, No 40657 was finally scrapped during December 1962 by Derby works.
