Close up of image 'lnwr2666' showing three staff, the additional waiting rooms erected in the later 19th century and station signage. In common with most other railways in Victorian Britain the LNWR provided ladies with their own waiting room which also include an en-suite toilet. In the view above we can see six signs, with the first four adjacent to the main station building, whilst the fifth and sixth signs are each just beyond the two additional waiting rooms. The first four signs read, from right to left, Booking Office and Waiting Room, Ladies Waiting Room, Gentlemen, and Wait Here For Third Class On Local Stopping Trains. Each of the other two signs are positioned next to waiting rooms and it is believed that each were the reserved for the use of Second and First Class passengers with Second Class being the nearest and First Class being the furthest. This assumption is based upon observing that at Gravelly Hill station similar First Class signs could be seen at the Lichfield end of the station as can be seen in 'lnwrgh58a'.
