Ex-LMS 2-8-0 8F No 48767 is seen running light engine over Coundon Road Level Crossing in the early 1960s. Built as LNER No 3162 by the LNER's Doncaster Works in March 1946, it was renumbered as No 3562 by the LNER in February 1947. When the locomotive was transferred to the LMS in October 1947 it was allocated the number by the LMS 'No 8767' which was changed to 48767 by British Railways in March 1949. It retained this number until September 1967 when it was withdrawn from 5B Crewe South shed to be scrapped by Cashmore's of Great Bridge. At the time of the photograph the locomotive was most likely to be allocated to 3A Bescot shed (August 1957 to January 1966).

This is one of several photographs from the collection of Eric Charles G. Sharpe, born c.1913, died 1995 in Coventry and his wife Isis M. nee Pinfold, born 1917 died 1996 in Torbay, Devon. They were purchased by Michael Wells from Beazley's Auction House, Preston, Paignton, Torbay, South Devon c.1999.
