Looking towards the road entrance to the depot via Canal Street with the Grain Warehouse on the right

Looking towards the road entrance to the depot via Canal Street with the Grain Warehouse on the right in September 1964. The line of covered vans alongside the Grain Warehouse are stabled in front of the metal shed. To the left of this building are two sets of tracks becoming three when they cross the level crossing in Curzon Street to access the Top Yard. The original Hardwick building and the hotel extension, now being used as offices, can be seen in the distance. On the left and in front of the former hotel, the original train sheds can be seen now converted to accommodate goods traffic. In addition, another building has been erected on the site of the offices adjacent to the GJR's departure platform. Note the clock on the gable end of one of the original train shed.
