A 1932 view of part of the GJR station's departure platform with the entrance to the booking office in the centre and the yard with Franklin's screen wall at the back on the right. The wooden steps seen through the archway on the right are the same as those seen in image 'lnwrcs2138'. Now being used for handling parcel and goods traffic a clerk's desk is situated next to the doorway with consignment notes, invoices, and bills of laden pinned to the rear screen. The ornate columns were formed from cast iron whilst the roof was covered in slate with skylights providing additional lighting.
