From the New Canal Street end of the warehouse looking
towards the sidings on 25th September 1938. On the left, above the LMS van, a
spiral staircase can be seen rising to the shipping office that had been
created in an area within the inverted V-section of the original roof. To the
left of the LMS van part of the offices located on the deck can be seen. The
light iron roof was based upon the original L & B roof which remained in
the centre of the enlarged warehouse and therefore according to Richard Foster
'was quite a contrast to the wooden roofs of the other warehouses which were
inherited from the Grand Junction Railway'.
