A Curzon Street deck gang transferring merchandise from the
road vehicle unloading dock into a van via an electric trolley. The three man
gang, the driver, checker and a loader, are in the process of loading a van
which is destined for Birkenhead. The LMS electrical trolleys were of a
different design to the LNWR model. They were steered by the handle on the left
driven by using a foot treadle for speed. The large black box marked with 'A'
and 'D' is the battery, the lettering aiding the process of checking where they
were and when they were due to be recharged. In order to increase the capacity
of the electric trolley a small trailer could be hooked on as seen on the left
above.
