Plan showing the booking office and passenger facilities at the L & B's Curzon Street station. This drawing shows the layout of the L & B's booking office at Curzon Street. This occupied the central portion of the buildings along the departure platform. An intending passenger entered the booking office through the colonnade which fronted the cab yard. In front of him, directly beyond the doorway, was a high panelled mahogany screen. The top two panels were glazed and displayed signs directing second class passengers to the left and first class to the right. Beyond the screen the passenger found a long curved open counter at which clerks would take the necessary details and book the required tickets. Paper tickets issued from large books were used originally. The details of the journey were filled in by hand on ticket and counterfoil by the clerk before he tore out the ticket and handed it to the passenger. Behind the clerks was an even higher panelled screen which enclosed the chief clerk's office. This was raised about 3ft 6in above the booking office floor in order that the chief could keep a close eye on what was going on. The enclosure was reached by flights of steps at each end. Once the passenger had booked his ticket, he could either move to the adjacent waiting room or pass out on to the platform.
