This sketch shows the relationship between the existing
lines and the routes of the London & Birmingham Railway, Birmingham
Extension (New Street station) line and the main line of the Birmingham &
Oxford Junction Railway as they were authorised by Parliament in August 1846.
Note how the authorised line of the B & OJ crossed over both the L & B
Curzon Street and New Street lines to make a junction with the Grand Junction
Railway immediately outside that company's passenger station.
