LMS Route: Nuneaton to Coventry

Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48686 is seen running tender first whilst at the head of a Nuneaton bound train of empty oil tank wagons 24th June 1961. The train is leaving the up goods loop siding, which ran for some distance between Foleshill goods yard and Courtauld's sidings with the other sidings exiting from this loop line, and is cleared to continue to Nuneaton on the down main. Running tender first was not popular with footplate men because the dust would be blown off the tender into the cab.
