LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Lichfield
Four Oaks Station: lnwrfo53a
Close up of image 'lnwrfo53' showing some of Four Oaks'
station master and other staff posed on the up platform circa 1951. The station
signs are still the LNWR originals, the LMS never replaced them as they
considered this a waste of money, which will be replaced by British Railways'
corporate signs circa 1954. British Railways wanted to stamp its corporate
identity on the big four and could afford to as it was the taxpayer who paid
not shareholders. On the side of the canopy is the terminating block for the
telephone and telegraph wires linking the station to the national network.
