LNWR 3P 4-4-0 George V class No 226 'Colwyn Bay' is seen passing Hampton Junction signal box on an up two-hour express in July 1921. The signal box protected the LNWR junction with the MR's Hampton to Whitacre line. The wagons, private owners, on the left are standing on the tracks of the former MR "Derby Junction" station. Number 226 was built at Crewe in June 1915 and was later renumbered October 1923 by the LMS as No 5405 and remained in service it was placed in store at Glanconway Sidings, Llandudno Junction in October 1934. It is recorded as being scrapped at Crewe works some time in 1935 or 1936 although one record places the date as February 1936.
