Close up of image 'lnwrhr66' showing the single storey
building with its unusual canopy cantilevered from the roof. The canopy appears
to be formed in lead because it is a flat surface with a fall to the rear to
drain rainwater. Compared to other railway structures in the region the canopy
only offers limited protection during inclement weather and has only be
constructed to cover the doorways to passenger accommodation. Later views of
the building show that this has been partly remedied by the installation of a
canopy covering the full length of the building. In this view there is only one
structure on the platform whilst in later views a smaller structure has been
added to increase passenger waiting room accommodation. The lady is carrying a
parasol indicating that its a bright sunny day whilst the presence of two
station staff suggests that a train has just departed or is about to
arrive.
