LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington
Kenilworth Station: lnwrk152
Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T No 6653 is seen sandwiched in the centre
of a four coach push-pull train on a local service from Nuneaton to Leamington
circa 1938. Whilst not a rare configuration, the usual configuration for this
branch - as most photographs on this website seem to suggest - was motor-fitted
trains which were primarily two coaches with the locomotive located at one end.
This four-coach configuration would be adopted when traffic demand was high it
although it necessitated employing two driver trailer coaches which appears
extravagant in view of the relatively few numbers built by the LMS. The normal
approach was the use of conventional four or six-coach trains hauled by a
locomotive.
