Kenilworth Station: lnwrk159

Another view of the exterior of Kenilworth station now having been stripped of its glazing to the forecourt canopy as a wartime precaution. The grandeur of the 1884 station seen in earlier views has now been lost demonstrating just how important the canopy was to the balance and presentation of the outside of the station. In common with many stations, Coventry included, the canopy had its glass removed at the beginning of the Second World War as a safety precaution in case of bomb blasts. The station was not in the town centre so it was necessary for passengers to be transported by either privately owned horse-drawn vehicles or by cabs.
