Close up of image 'lnwrkj180' showing ex-LNWR 0-8-0 'Super D' No 9130's fireman standing on the outside of the footplate ready to collect the token. There was a speed restriction of 5 mph in force to collect and to return the token but this was often exceeded reflecting the years of practice that the crews acquired on repeating the trip most days of the week. Built as LNWR No 1774 by Crewe works in August 1910 it was renumbered by the LMS as No 9130 in May 1928, rebuilt as a 'G2a' in May 1939 and ran in this form until November 1962 when it was retired from Edge Hill shed in Liverpool to be scrapped during February 1963 by Crewe works.
