British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92247, complete
with double chimney, is moving slowly as the fireman passes over the train
staff. In a relatively clean condition No 92247 is heading a long coal train
en-route to Leamington and beyond. The bracket for the top head lamp has been
moved to the right of the smokebox dart as a safety precaution in order to
protect the fireman when operating under overhead catenary. Built at Crewe
works in December 1958 No 92247 lasted less than 8 years in service being
withdrawn from Newton Heath shed in October 1966 where it remained in store
until the following year being scrapped by Drapers Ltd of Hull in April
1967.
