Close up of image 'lnwrlave1349' showing the raised cockpit of Railcar No 2 and the louvered door which provided access for the driver and luggage compartment. The railcar could be driven in both directions from the raised cockpit which presumable increased the space for revenue generating passengers. Entry to the luggage compartment was via the roller shutter door, itself a modern idea not fully exploited until BR used them on the now redundant TPO stock. The twin sliding passenger door clearly owes its existence to the influence of underground rolling stock. Note the railwayman who is sitting in the passenger compartment just above the Coventry Railcar logo. A number of photographs of the Coventry Pneumatice Railcar can be seen in images 'lnwrk161', 'lnwrns1732', 'lnwrlave1349', and 'lnwrlave1362', with 'gwrwm421' showing trials of the original Michelin prototype being tested on the Great Western Railway at Widney Manor.
