crosses from ex-GWR metals to ex-LMS metals circa 1956. The coaching stock is
painted in the new corporate colours of British Railways, officially known as
carmine cream although better known to enthusiasts as 'blood and custard'.
Built at Horwich in May 1948 No 43034 remained in service until the penultimate
year of steam being withdrawn from Crewe South in November 1967 to be scrapped
the same month by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
