Looking towards Rugby and Weeden from the end of the up platform which shows the replacement LMS upper quadrant signals now in place. The description 'upper' and 'lower' quadrant refers to the arc of travel that signal travelled. An upper quadrant signal was raised to approximately 60° from the horizontal to denote that the driver had right of way whilst a lower quadrant signal pointed down 60° from the horizontal. The change was initiated after an accident when snow jammed the mechanism which prevented the signal returning to the danger or horizontal position.
