Leamington (Avenue) Station - Locomotives: lnwrlave1388

Ex-GWR 57xx class 0-6-0PT No 7702 is seen marshalling cattle trucks at platform one with an unidentified ex-GWR 2-6-2T Prairie locomotive standing at the rear. The points indicate that No 7702 has just reversed out from the siding that was located at the Warwick end of platform one. Both ex-GWR locomotives would have been shedded at the former GWR Leamington shed. With the closure of Warwick Milverton shed in November 1958 duties were transferred to the GWR shed together with some locomotives. Built by Kerr Stuart in February 1930 No 7702 remained in service until September 1960 when it was withdrawn from the former GWR Leamington shed to be scrapped in June 1961 by D Woodham of Barry Docks.
