Leamington (Avenue) Station - Locomotives: lnwrlave1750

Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T No 6609, a Webb 5ft 6in tank locomotive, is seen arriving at Leamington Avenue station at the head of a two-coach motor train. The burnt paint on the chimney indicates that the locomotive was in a poor condition and it is no surprise to note that it was withdrawn shortly after the photograph was taken. Built at Crewe works in January 1891, No 6609 was withdrawn from service in June 1930 to be scrapped by Crewe works shortly afterwards.
