Looking along the walkway and underpass from Leamington Avenue to the former GWR station in 1952. The photograph was taken to record the very tall LNWR signal which was replaced in 1952. During the Second World War the underpass was a favourite meeting place for American airmen stationed at the Oxfordshire airfields to meet local 'good time' girls. Apparently at week ends the subway would be littered with used condoms.
